A l'automne 1991, Pere Ubu tourne aux Etats-Unis et assure la première partie des Pixies. Le 7 décembre, un jour off, le groupe joue live en accoustique dans un petit club de Chicago, le Shuba's. Un de ces soirs magiques où un groupe, au sommet de son art, rencontre un public enthousiaste pour un extraordinaire concert.
